Torturing Nurse, based in China, have been making an imprint on both the Chinese experimental scene and audiences worldwide since 2004 through dozens of limited CDR and cassette releases showcasing their annihilating approach to extreme music. Vertonen, based in the United States, has been creating audio since the 1990s, with his most recent works exploring the darker experiences of the late 60s to mid 1970s in the US and abroad. As Vertonen, Edwards has received 4 grants from the city of Chicago in support of his work, and performs frequently in the US.
Torturing Nurse梐rmed with turntable, voice, and guitar梒reates a mobius strip of crashing, clanging, shrieking, and feedback-laden hysteria. Although there are some moments when the entropy subsides, if you think you抮e going to catch your breath a bit you抮e really only kidding yourself.
The Vertonen side presents documentation (electronics on the fritz); deconstruction (a thick drone built on extremely modified 搈ementos?of the often inevitable failure of ill-planned 搒ocial revolution?; and destruction (noise shrapnel peppered with rhythmic bursts; a cleansing bath o f acid and a belt sander).
The release is in a limited edition of 100 numbered copies.

It starts as a fairly laid back racket of feedback and clanging - live I suspect - the guitar needs tuning and there is a serious mains loop hum (joke) by track 3 they are beginning to wind themselves up - hell they have what I think is called a groove going- its splendid stuff- the kind of noise that brings a smile - you just know they are touching 80mph and there is more power left - this is a fucking Harley Davidson of a disk- they ease the throttle on 4 only to open it back up into more feedback (excellent) on 5, 6 eases out into a field recording??? "Four names , four countries and - fuck it ! - three continents and half , since everybody knows that
the British always had problems with defining themselves "european" .

All right , what to begin with ?
As maybe you guessed from the title , "Eiste Skilohissia" is an album made by-mmm , 14 hands if i'm not mistaken ?
At least a band should have 4 members , while the others should be one man acts .
The names in wuestion are : Fecalove (Italia) , Oubliette (USA) , Torturing Nurse (China , they're the four guys i mentioned) ,and
Mutant Ape (England).
I'd like to spend a few words on Oubliette , the man responsable for the promotional images of the vinyl , if it can be called promotion.
So , maybe some of you stumbled upon in a few weird pics , showing the lp's cover in the middle of pumpkins and cultivated fields .
Well , that's Oubliette's house . He's a farmer in Clyo , Georgia , and it seems that he makes a living off selling vegetables in local markets.
This also gives money to spend in pedals ,effects contact mics and other harsh noise tools .
Oubliette must have a true passion for that orange fruit : his artistic things (illustrations , pics , etc.) have mainly one subject : pumpkins .
It's a trait that makes our pal a bit more human , since musically it's needless to say that it's pure noise .

The album is divided in two parts , one on each side . On the first , the four projects collaborate for 9 short schizophrenic , messy amputee-tracks .
Feedbacks , razor cuts , horrible pseudo-electronic shreds , noise rushes and downhill convulsions.
The operation , in its way , is successfull and also manages to be fun even if it's difficult to districate through the various tracks , that are a lot similar
to each other . Obviously , with a little attention you can spot differences , even "important" ones , like screamy vocals on track 2 , throttled vocals on tracks 5 and 6  , and no vocals at all
on the others . But i guess that their creators didn't care about such subtle differences , so let's turn the lp to side b and see what happens.

On this side , the four have a full track each . Mutant Ape's the one i like more , maybe cause it's the only one seeing the use of some sort of
"rhythm" , if with rhythm we mean a drum machine destined to be buried under harsh noise ruins . The thing is less predictable than it seems : the space sounds at the start and and the final return to quietness make it seem like (ok ,let's say it) a SONG .

Of course , Oubliette smashes on with his pumpkinoise . You can hear that he's a farmer : his track is the roughest , ignorant and mean of the four , and also the most badly recorded .
Musically we could describe it as the sound of a stuck engine recorded through a plastic  funnel. I have a thing for this man , if it wasn't clear enough .

Fecalove , being from tuscany , is also the most refined .
Let's say that if the others have a total of three/four sounds at max , he can reach about 10 with farts , feedbacks , buzzings , blatherings and eruptions . He's abit liek the blbum's John Wiese , but he beats the californian 10 to 0
in dementation .

Torturing Nurse prevalent sound is a guitar , obviously abused in every possible way : the effect is a lot japanoise-like , bringing to mind Solmania in a meat grinder .
I always promise myself to learn more about Shanghai and its whereabouts' scene : if the future is China , i want to be ready .

Cover art is by Tisbor (a.k.a. Fecalove) , white vinyl and international star-parade . In the same old scene it's a hit : easy to understand why.
